This position is located at Imperial Die Casting Co. in Liberty, SC.

This position is responsible for assisting with the development of processes and set-up books for the Die Casting department. Assist in the maintenance, and utilize the shot monitoring system to troubleshoot process-related problems. Monitor adherence to set up by Die Casting.


Define by analysis and experimentation the optimum setup of new and existing dies including: metal pressure, cavity fill rate & time, sleeve sizing, projected area, gate velocity, machine tonnage requirements, gating and runnering, temperatures, machine capabilities vs. tool requirements, shortest cycle time, lowest scrap, and other variables

Sample new tools

Use shot monitoring equipment to document processes and troubleshoot casting problems. Use micrometers and hydraulic pressure gages

Produce detailed documentation of processes and verify that documented processes are repeatable

Initiate reviews of existing processes and search for and implement continuing improvements

Troubleshoot difficult casting problems and assist other setup personnel in solving problems

Increase knowledge by attending courses and through independent study


Minimum two year technical degree or equivalent with additional training in die casting principles.

Skills must include math, some algebra, organization, and ability to clearly communicate in writing, and verbally.

Three to five years of experience as process engineer in high pressure die casting or related field with previous technical experience

Basic understanding of Hydraulic Systems.

Blue Print reading capability.
