This position is located at Imperial Die Casting Co., a division of RCM Industries, Inc., in Liberty, SC.

Imperial Die Casting Co. is currently seeking a Secondary Operations Manager for a fast-paced, multi-shift operation. This is a hands-on position requiring the ideal candidate to manage all activities of the Machining and Finishing Department.


Job Summary

The Secondary Operations Manager is responsible for maintaining a lean work environment for the Machining and Finishing Department, making cycle time improvements, programming, training, assure proper implementation of ISO procedures and managing a schedule to meet customer expectations on a consistent basis. The Manager must have the ability to work well with staff, have good communications skills with the ability to assign, direct, and monitor the duties of engineers, supervisors, and other personnel.


Essential Functions:

  • Schedule work for department, oversee ordering material, cutting tools and other supplies
  • Plan, organize and delegate work assignments to best utilize man hours, skills, and equipment for all 3 shifts.
  • Diagnose & troubleshoot problems such as incorrectly loaded parts, incorrectly located fixtures, tooling issues, etc.
  • Quote accurate cycle times for work, including any secondary operations that may be required.
  • Proactively support safety, including near miss accident investigations and follow up, department inspections, employee training, and rule enforcement.
  • Work with Sales and Engineering to quote, procure new work and continuously evaluate existing work.
  • Provide support to the DC department ensuring product meets customer specification and delivered on time.
  • Communicate with other departments regarding all department needs to meet quality requirements, maintain inventory requirements, and meet project timelines.
  • Drive and demand daily incremental improvement in the CNC process, people, and products.
  • Evaluate and recommend department staffing needs.
  • Evaluate and develop personnel through classes, seminars, and in-house training.
  • Work with maintenance to schedule and verify that all PM activities in your area are completed in a timely manner.
  • Participate and assure completion / follow through of all corrective actions.
  • Evaluate, maintain, and improve capabilities of new and existing processes, tooling, and equipment.
  • Maintain all quality system requirements.

Education & Experience:

  • Engineering Degree and related experience.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience with CNC machines and mechanical tools
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of managerial experience
